An allergist specializing in the management of allergic rhinitis, asthma, atopic dermatitis, contact dermatitis, sinus infection, and immunotherapy, Dr. Aries Liu-Helm is board certified by the American Board of Allergy and Immunology.
She welcomes patients of all ages and is among only a few physicians in Western New York who perform directed patch testing to pinpoint the cause of skin allergies. By using this type of test, Dr. Liu-Helm often is able to identify allergies caused by specific ingredients in cosmetics, topical lotions, medications, plants, or other environmental agents.
Dr. Liu-Helm earned her medical degree at Albany Medical College and completed an Internal Medicine residency and Allergy and Immunology Fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic.
Dr. Liu-Helm joined the BMG Department of Allergy and Immunology in 2000, after working at the University of Buffalo Student Health Service and serving as volunteer Assistant Professor of Medicine at the University at Buffalo. She volunteers regularly at Cornerstone Manor and has participated in Medical Missions to serve the underprivileged.
She is a member of the Buffalo Allergy Society, the American Academy of Asthma, Allergy and Immunology, and the American Contact Dermatitis Society. In addition, she has published research on autoimmune blistering diseases and delayed hypersensitivity skin tests. She is very interested in allergy and skin disease.
Dr. Liu-Helm and her highly-trained and skilled staff, provide evaluation and treatment of allergic disorders for infants, children and adults. Her patient-centered approach to care focuses on health and wellness for long-term management of allergic problems.
