What is Radiation Medicine?
Radiation uses high energy rays – like x-rays – to kill or damage cancer cells, control the growth of cancer, or to relieve cancer symptoms. Radiation may only be one component of your treatment plan, based on your type of cancer, and needs. It may be used before or after surgery, or in combination with chemotherapy.
Because of this, our Radiation Oncologist will work with your cancer care network, including your Primary Care Physician, Medical Oncologist, and other healthcare professionals, to coordinate your treatment plan, to ensure you’re receiving the best possible care, to provide you with the best possible outcomes.
