Dr. Joseph P. Leberer has been a member of the Buffalo Medical Group, PC, since 1988, and is Medical Director of the Amherst-General Gastroenterology Outpatient Endoscopy Suite. He is board certified by the American Board of Colon and Rectal Surgery.

After earning his medical degree at the University at Buffalo (UB) School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, Dr. Leberer completed his general surgery specialty training at UB and hospitals affiliated with the university. In addition, he also completed a residency in colon and rectal surgery at Buffalo General Hospital.

A clinical assistant professor at UB, Dr. Leberer is a Fellow of the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons. He is a member of the Erie County and New York State Medical societies, and is president of the Niagara Frontier Association of Colon and Rectal Surgeons.

Dr. Leberer is a former member of the Buffalo Medical Group Board of Directors, and also previously chaired the BMG Finance Committee. He also is a member of the Kenmore Mercy Hospital GI Lab Committee.

Dr. Leberer provides inpatient care at Kenmore Mercy Hospital, as well as coverage for his BMG Physicians partners at Kaleida Health, and Sisters of Charity and South Buffalo Mercy hospitals.
