Audiology
Though most common in older adults, hearing loss can affect anyone. The audiology team at Buffalo Medical Group provides a full range of diagnostic and treatment services for patients with hearing and balance problems.
Our audiology services are provided by licensed Doctors of Audiology contracted through Hearing Evaluation Services of Buffalo, a non-profit, non-commissioned audiology practice in Western New York. All audiologists work closely with our otolaryngologists and have extensive training and experience evaluating and treating hearing loss, tinnitus and balance problems.
Our audiologists diagnose and treat a broad range of hearing and balance conditions, with symptoms including labyrinthitis, motion sickness, migraine headaches and benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV). Our comprehensive hearing evaluations include pure tone audiometry, speech audiometry and middle ear function testing that are used to evaluate each patient’s type and degree of hearing loss. We evaluate patients’ balance (vestibular) function using videonystagmography (VNG) testing, which is the gold standard for diagnosing patients who have any form of dizziness or imbalance, including vertigo.
