Pulmonary & Critical Care Medicine

The pulmonary and critical care medicine team at Buffalo Medical Group treats patients with complex lung diseases and critical illnesses on both an inpatient and outpatient basis. Our pulmonary specialists work closely with our oncology physicians to ensure every patient receives personalized, comprehensive care.

Our outpatient pulmonary services include treatment and evaluation of a wide variety of conditions, such as:

• Asthma
• COPD – emphysema, chronic bronchitis
• Lung cancer
• Occupational lung diseases (e.g. asbestos contamination)
• Pleural diseases
• Pulmonary fibrosis (scarring of the lungs)
• Respiratory conditions such as pneumonia, tuberculosis, etc.
• Sleep disorders, including sleep apnea

BMG provides state-of-the art outpatient pulmonary function testing to evaluate lung capacity in patients with COPD and asthma, to determine if smokers have COPD, and to evaluate patients with such common lung complaints as shortness of breath, chronic cough and decreased exercise capacity. We also perform fluid drainage from around the lung and arterial blood gases in the office.

On-site chest x-rays, CT scans of the chest and ultrasounds of the chest are also available on an outpatient basis, giving you a convenient option for your lung care. On-site consultation with our radiology colleagues also gives our pulmonary team access to expert interpretation of imaging studies in a more timely manner, giving you quicker results and faster access to treatment.
