Psoriasis Clinical Trials:

Psoriasis causes dry, flaky itchy, and painful patches of skin, and even nails or joints. In some cases, Psoriasis symptoms get so bad, a patient may severely alter his or her lifestyle, whether it be through the clothes they wear, activities they perform, limiting relationships, or even by rarely leaving their homes.

Robert Kalb, MD, Board-Certified Dermatologist, offers various Psoriasis clinical trials in an effort to manage Psoriasis symptoms, and help those suffering feel relief from this condition.

How many Psoriasis studies does Dr. Robert Kalb have, and how do you know which is right for you?

After careful review of your medical history and information, and meeting with you, Dr. Kalb will make a recommendation based on what he believes is best for you. There are several studies at any given time, that provide different medications and treatment plans. Rest assured, Dr. Kalb will work with you to determine what is best based on your individual needs.

Are there any clinical trials that don’t require oral medications or injections?

We are currently seeking patients to join our phototherapy clinical trial. This trial does not require medications or injections, and instead uses Ultraviolet (UV) light rays to treat the symptoms of Psoriasis. Some patients may be given UV light units to use in their homes, while others will come into the office to receive treatment.

Chronic Eczema & Atopic Dermatitis Clinical Trials:

Do you suffer from Chronic Eczema or Atopic Dermatitis? If so, the clinical trial offered by board-certified dermatologist, Robert Kalb, MD, may be able to help you. We understand these conditions can be painful, uncomfortable or embarrassing. It’s our goal find treatments and solutions to these conditions to improve the quality of life of those suffering.

What does the trial entail?

The Chronic Eczema and Atopic Dermatitis Trial involves an injectable medication that works to reduce and control symptoms of these conditions. Because this is a clinical trial, patients will be randomized to receive either the study drug or a placebo.

By conducting studies such as this, we’re able to find treatments that make a substantial difference in patients who suffer from these conditions, with limited side effects. Each patient will participate in the trial for 16-32 weeks.

Do you need to come into the office often to participate in the study?

Patients take home a small electronic device to track their skin daily to closely monitor any changes that occur, without having to come into the office on a frequent basis. We do require patients to come into the office roughly once a month so Dr. Robert Kalb is able to see progress and changes in person, as well as address any concerns, and monitor other skin conditions.

The following information is applicable for all clinical trials with Dr. Robert Kalb:

Patients over the age of 18, with a diagnosis of Psoriasis are eligible. Some limitations may apply based on your medical history or other pre-existing conditions. Call 716.630.1457 to learn more about whether you would be a good candidate.

What happens if you want to participate in the trial, but currently are under the care of another dermatologist?

He will also keep your dermatologist informed and up-to-date on your treatments and care.
